Dumb Dealer?

Hey guys.

At the end of the film when the dealer brings in the cold deck, with a horrible deck switch I might add, why didn't he just stack it so that he wouldn't have to bottom deal the cards? I mean, its pretty obvious that the old guy wasn't going to keep three 8's and an extra card, he was going to draw 2 cards. Therefore the dealer could have just set the hands up so that there was no bottom dealing involved.

Also, why didn't the other guy (sorry I forget their names, the one with the black hair), cut the deck? It would have made things look more legitimit and it wouldn't have made a difference since a cold deck was brought in.

Any of you think the same?

Because they wanted the viewers to be able to follow along. We were supposed to know that there was cheating going on during that last hand. Doing that way in the film makes it easy for the viewers to understand.

If he cuts the deck then it messes up the order of the cards and they don't get the hands they wanted.

Also the simplist answer really is that the dealer does it this way because it was in the script.

But if he cut the deck it wouldn't have mattered because the dealer brouhgt in a cold deck after that anyways.

The Dearler shuffles a deck of cards then switched it with the fixed deck. He then offers him a cut of the "fixed" deck right after switching the decks.

Just watched this movie 10 minutes ago and he offers the cut BEFORE the switch. So the refused cut doesn't make sense. Unless the Spaniard is too dumb to know when the switch was going to take place. But he definitely doesn't switch the decks until after the refused cut.

I know this post is from a few years ago, but I was wondering about the same thing. What I don't get is how he got away with switching the decks without anyone noticing, it was done so obviously. The look on Maverick's face after it happened made me think he had noticed it. I just don't get why no one said anything at that time.
