Jodie Foster was so very WRONG for this

No chemistry. Meg Ryan, the original choice, would have been better for a woman Maverick wanted to both love and avoid.

She was PERFECT, charming, witty, sly, devious, beautiful, etc. I could go on and on how great she was. I loved her in this, and one could tell her and Mel had a great chemistry together.

I would never want anyone playing Annabelle.

Sorry, disagree, i think she's fabulous and perfect for the role.

reply

I disagree. Meg Ryan is too modern looking for the role. Jodie did a fantastic job

reply

Why? Because she was so often typecast as some other type of character, and Ryan was so often typecast as this type of character?

That, son, is why you so often find yourself hoping she'll stop scamming and scheming and suddenly turn human. And that's why it's a brilliant bit of casting.

reply

She was wonderful and had great chemistry.

I'm a big Jodie Foster fan I think she's a wonderful actress but I have to agree that here she was miscast and not convincing. I think Meg Ryan is better at comedy would have had better chemistry with Mel and should have had the role.

reply

I dunno ... in this one she exhibited her versatility as an actor and shedding any notion of being one that can be readily type-casted.
