I know this is an old post but to EXPLAIN to the blind poster, and others that may follow, click the "more" link and you will see ALL the actors in the film.

His step dad was played by well known actor Michael Ironside. In fact, he received top billing even though his scene only last 3-4 minutes in the middle of the film!

When I looke this up Michael Ironside as of now he is only credited as Lt. Col. Stone.

Hard to find when you look for a step-dad.

That was Michael Ironside, a character actor who has appeared in many films. He was Ham Tyler in V: The Final Battle, and appeared in Top Gun and the original Total Recall.
