Can someone please clear up something for me...

Ok so in the American League Championship series the Indians are playing the White Sox.

I can't remember back in 1994 how the divisions were set up. I think this was before the West,East,Central setup. And it was probably only East/ West without an ALDS.

If the divisions were split up east/west/central then it makes sense how the indian and the white sox would be playing in the ALCS. With one winning the division and the other getting a wild card. But I swear that in 1994 there was no wildcard and it would have been impossible for the Indian and the White sox to meet in the ALCS.

No...when it was East/West, Cleveland was in the East and Chicago was in the West.

They could have played in the ALCS under either setup.

1994 was the first year of the three division/wild card format (and it turned out there was no postseason that year anyway...) ML2 was released in April of 94, thus it was produced when the old division and playoff formats were still in place. Should also be noted in 94 the Indians were playing their first season at Jacobs Field, not Municipal Stadium as potrayed in the film (and the Jake far more resembles Camden Yards than Municipal Stadium did...). Plus in 94 the Indians began wearing different uniforms than those shown in ML2 (interestingly, pretty much the same happened with the first film as well...)

ML2 was supposed to take place a season after ML2 and ML is probably late 80's.

Ok, thanks everyone.

Well, it was using 1993 and before rules, I believe. In 1993, the White Sox would have been in the AL West and the Indians would have been in the AL East.

1994 was the first season with the three division format, even though we never had playoffs that season because of the strike.

I wonder what year it takes place as well. The first one is made in 1989 and the second is supposed to be the next year. The announcers do remark about Chicago saying "at least they aren't canadian" so I think that was a sly remark about Toronto winning back to back world series.
