Charlie Sheen has a 58 m.p.h. fastball

Not 102

81, not 58

you do realize that very few people have a fastball that reaches 102, right?

If you can't spot the sucker in the first half hour at the table, then you ARE the sucker.

reply

On the new dvd they said Sheen's fastball topped out at 88 mph. Not to shabby even though he was a pretty good player in school.

Hit the one in the middle

Tim Robbins could throw 90 (although with absolutely no control) for the movie "Bull Durham".

The mound was 10 feet closer to home plate for Charlie's pitching scenes, so his pitches would appear to go faster.

88's not bad by any stretch. It's not smoking, but it's cartainly major leauge material - given that Sheen actually had at least a few other decent pitches.

reply

88 is good he could have made it as a major league pitcher if developed good breaking stuff and got some good off speed stuff but 102 is realistic if your nolan rayn when he was either a met astro or ranger he once threw it 106

reply

I was ONE of Charlies assistants on the film when i was 19 yrs old.

I can say he definitely threw into the 80's with good accuracy.

Actually, Nolan Ryan clocked in at 100.9 mph in 1979 in a game, a record that, according to guinness book of world records, still stands today. There have been accounts of Joel Zumaya hitting 103, but not in a game. To even think that ryan hit 106 is ludicrous, the statement alone shows how much you know about baseball.

randy Johnson threw 102 a few times

I KNOW 2 things that are clear.I'm a great sinner,Christ is a great Savior.

Please, Billy wagner legitamitely threw 100-101 in the prime of his career. Randy Johnson also. I find it hard to believe that Ryans 100.9 still stands. Zumaya is a flame-thrower and can definitely get it up there. Justin Verlander can trhow 98-99. Joba Chamberlain can throw in the triple digits as well.

Correction: Sheen could hit 86 mph fastball. Look it up on Major League 1: Wild Thing Edition and on Wikipedia.

Matt Anderson - former #1 overall pick for the Detroit Tigers used to clock at 100 regularly. Joel Zumaya touches 100 almost every time he goes out, he was actually being clocked at 104 last week, but Im assuming we can say that was from an "amped" up radar gun. I think its pretty cool that Ryan's 100mph is still the official record, even though it has probably been broken countless times.

Jamie Moyer won 16 games last year, and a World Series and his fastball tops out at 83.

reply

Sheen admitted to using steroids during filming which helped increase his fastball

Does the topic title crack anyone else up?

reply

Interesting too that when Vaughn was pitching badly, they show him pitching mid 80's,
