I've never been a fan of Madonna, though I do remember seeing her hanging out at Danceteria, seeing her scoping out how the other females hanging out there were dressed and trying to get the DJ there to play her awful tape! His name was Mark Kamins, he looked nothing like the guy in the movie. I gather the script wasn't trying to be to literal about some occurrences. The DJ in the movie appeared to be Jelly Bean Benitez.

The only reason I'd watched this movie was because I'm interested in any movie which documents the music scene. Terumi Matthews did a wonderful job, she's 100 times the actress Madonna could ever wish to be! I do wonder why she hasn't done anything else.

Watching this further confirmed that Madonna was: extremely lucky, in the right place at the right time to meet all the right people...her only rival at the time was Debbie Harry, who unfortunately left the music scene for awhile to care for her, then ill, then boyfriend, Chris Stein. There was a 'need' for something new and people bought into it.

Madonna simply found a niche and a huge GIMMICK and went with it. She's basically a businesswoman who's used so many people along the way, you have to stop counting.

All she ever wanted was fame, it's been admitted so many times, in print and on TV. She told Dick Clark on "American Bandstand" that she wanted to "conquer the world" or something. So she has...but her music certainly isn't iconic or memorable.

When she tries to be serious, her interviews are always convoluted gibberish about what her 'message' has been over the years. She basically has nothing to say. She does have a knack of surrounding herself with the best musicians, dancers, stylists and makeup & hair people, all who work extremely hard to make her look and sound good.

Changing your hair color or hairstyle, dancing around in silly outfits exposing your body ....does NOT make a memorable musician, one who'll be listened to 50-100 years from now.

Madonna certainly won't have the lasting impact of classical music, jazz, the Blues, R'n'B, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash and so many other musical icons. Deep down she probably realizes this, she'll never be taken seriously by people who enjoy actual music!
