Stansfield was innocent

Had the idiot gave him his coke instead of trying to steal it none of this would've never happened. What did he think they were going to do? You mess with the bull you get the horns. Everything afterwards falls from this. Had he paid Mathilda wouldnt have felt the guilt of having to avenge their deaths but they werent at fault because it's automatic. If you mess with mobsters this is what happens and I wouldnt be surprised if she gets it too in the end. Because not only did the wiped out mobsters but cops too. None of this goes unpunished.

reply

Your joking right? Stansfield was corrupt and far from innocent, and of all the characters that move the story forward only Mathilda was innocent.

reply

If you steal from anyone especially mobsters you have it coming. Since he stole from him( a coke bag) he had every right to seek vengeance. Mathilda was under her dad's care so by alliance she had to pay the price. She didnt have to. She got away and even hated them. It's not like they treated her right. So why seek vengeance? The mobsters had already gotten passed letting her go. So she had it coming. Her brother was a casualty and father's fault. She should've let it go. This had absolutely nothing to do with Leon. He had no reason to get involved if it wasn't for his love for Mathilda and her thirst for vengeance.

Stansfield and his goons were drug dealers and murderers hiding behind badges, they are outside the Law. Leon is a hired killer who is contracted by Tony, both of these guys are outside the Law. All of these guys break the Law at will so none of them are innocent. Mathilda sets everything into motion by seeking revenge for her brothers death, still she is innocent on all accounts simply because of her youth and naivety.

reply

Mathilda: Is life always this hard, or is it just when you're a kid?

Léon: Always like this.

Hiding? I think if you research the force, politics, or government you will find that this is their job.

Yes but even behind these laws are laws. "No women, No children". You do not steal from Drug Dealers.

Stansfield is innocent because he is just doing what he was provoked to be do. If he had been given his dope none of this would've happen. Mathilda's entire family is innocent except the father but because he is the father they are guilty by association. Because the father wasn't man enough to look after his family and care for his daughter. She has to pay the price. But I had already said she got lucky and escaped. She should've left at that. She lost her innocence in the process and tried to avenge her families death which wasn't her fault and out of her hands. In the process getting innocent Leon involved who had absolutely nothing to do with it and seducing him to get involved and "clean" several of the gansters in her name.

Mathilda has seen a lot in her young life and she is aware of things that no 12yr old should be. She is aware of sex and love, but she has no idea how they are related, not really. Mathilda takes no responsibility for her actions because she is not mature enough to use rational judgment. From my view this tells me that Mathilda is very naive and we see many examples like this over the course of her story.

Hiding? Absolutely! Stansfield hides behind his badge to break the Laws that have been established down through history for all humans to live by. The Laws that he lives by were born out of corruption therefore he is not innocent. Stansfield is a drug dealer, he is a murderer, and the Laws that he lives by don’t apply to all others. Sorry but I fail to see the logic where Stansfield’s innocence is concerned. Mathilda on the other hand retains her innocence, if for no other reason than her youth and immaturity.

reply

Totally agree. Stansfield was a cold blooded killer. Leon was better than Stansfield because at least you knew that he was outside of the law. Stansfield was an arsonist posing as a fireman. He was pretending to the law when in fact he was the drug dealer himself. Leon showed who he was.

reply

He deserved to die.

reply

"Innocent" is not the word I would use. But he was right that Mathilda's father was stealing from him.

Then again where did Stansfield get the coke in the first place? Most likely he kept in a drug bust, or he was stealing from evidence replaced it with something like corn starch before it got destroyed.

reply

No way. He was a drug dealer hiding behind a budge. He used his DEA position as a cover up. He was literally an arsonist posing as a fireman. Not innocent at all.
