Leon learned how to become a man at last after being a man-child, Mathilda learned how to become a little girl again after a pretense of being a girl-woman.

Both of them were broken, and they both became whole.

The end.

That's the whole story. Brilliant stuff!

I find this post very interesting and also an accurate depiction of the story between Leon and Mathilda. However there is an element in the telling of this story that I think often gets overlooked. Although Leon does find redemption in the end, of the two only the innocent (Mathilda) is allowed to escape their world of loneliness.
