Midnight Cowboy homage?

Is it just me or did anyone else notice camera angle references to "Midnight Cowboy"? For example, showing Rory's feet walking down the street like Dustin Hoffman in MC. Also, showing the back of Sean Astin with his hand on his hip as Rory is sitting on the couch just like Jon Voight and Barnard Hughes in the hotel room in MC. Also, the black and white poster of Ronald Reagan dressed as a cowboy in the apartment by Sean Astin reminded me of the black and white poster of Paul Newman on the wall of the hotel room by Jon Voight in MC.
There were other parallels too, how Hickenlooper portrayed the alienation of L.A. was a lot like Schlessinger's portrayal of N.Y. in MC? Even the party at the apartment where everyone was detached from everyone else reminded me of the Warholesque party at the end of MC.
