message from filmmaker

just wanted to let y'all know that i would be happy to answer any questions you might have regarding "LOVE & A 45". feel free to contact me on facebook at CLEMENT MCCARTY TALKINGTON or [email protected]. there are 3 "love" fb pages where people post pictures and videos and whatnot. the short "making-of-love" featurette that my sister made in 1993 is also available on my VIMEO channel. link listed below. most importantly, thanks for keeping our little "western psychedelic road opera" from completely disappearing into the black hole of forgotten cinema.

Great movie, one of my all-time favorites. Dialogue just crackles! You should make more movies, man!

Thanks! Keep us posted. I'm not on FB, so maybe periodically re-visit here and keep your non-fb fans updated. Good luck with your future projects. I'll be looking forward to them.

Carty, I'm looking forward to seeing your new scripts on the screen. I loved Love and .45 and its spin on a psycho-crime drama-road trip. I know your scripts will have wit, and will be original and better than much of what's being churned out these days.

I'm also not a Facebook user, so here's to your updates elsewhere.

Just Saw this flick the other day after years of meaning to and...I was blown away. My kind of film and I'm a movie buff. Put it this way. While viewing it, I had this extreme longing to occupy the setting of the film. No joke. That psychedelic stip bar featuring reverend horton heat is my literal idea of paradise. Seriously though I just really enjoyed the whole thing with it outlandish characters and witty banter. As a twenty three year old who's totally dissatisfied with the way things are nowadays and as a film fan/student it was really nice to watch something from back in the day that you just knew had actual substance and heart. I don't do facebook so thanks again. Oh and it got me thinking about hitting the road down to Texas, with Roky Erickson along for the ride.

Hey there,

Just wanted to post on here and tell you how much my wife and I like Love & a 45. I saw this movie when I was about ten, with my older brother; it's been on my favorite list since.

My wife and I both appreciate how Texas based the film is. Any time a film is done in Texas, we enjoy the viewing. Your film is chock-full of Texas feel, complete with wide open spaces, small town feel, isolation, etc. We also like the allure of Mexico that most younger Texans have (or had) that your film demonstrates. It's interesting to say the least. We wish there were more Texas style films. Fortunately the Austin film industry is exploding right now, so hopefully we'll have more cool movies of the same style.

Anyway, thanks again for the film. Hope to see your next ones.

Dustin

First of all, thanks for giving us this sadly unnoticed gem of a movie. I was lucky enough to see this film on the big screen at the fantasy film fest in germany. The audience had a ball and it was one of the most enjoyable films that year. I still revisit this film regulary. How big/small are the chances of this ever seeing a blu-ray release? Cheers.

It's been a long time since I'd watched Love and a .45, I fondly remember renting it several times in the heyday of vhs rentals. I was lucky enough to snag a copy the other day and immediately upon starting it I was sucked into it. My gauge for if a movie is truly entertaining is how much I pay attention to it,if it's halfassed I might pick up my phone and get on IMDb or whatever but calls/texts/Fb alerts were going off and I was fully ignoring it. Hell one call was even my work calling me in to pick up an extra shift which I could use the dough but was too damn enthralled in .45. After finishing it I popped in here to read some comments.

In closing I'd like to thank C.M. for making this post so that fans can connect with him. You are one of my many inspirations to attempt to make my own movie. From one Texan to another thanks.
