What was the point of switching Belle/Annie's last name with Sallie's?

You know... they made Sallie Gardner Sallie Moffat and Belle and Annie (who seems to now be Amy's age instead of Meg's) Moffat B/A Gardner. It just bugged me and I didn't see much point in that.

Or else why they decided to make it Sallie's coming-out in lieu of just a weekend for all the girls to spend together?

Maybe they thought "Moffat" sounded more upper-class, and did the coming-out thing to show the vast difference between Sallie's and Meg's social standings. Those are my guesses, but I'm not really sure why.

It's possible that it was a reference to a later part of the book, in tha case of Sallie Moffat. Before Meg marries John, Sallie Gardiner marries Ned Moffat, who had previously set his sights on Meg. The writers might have just thought it would be easier to make the character Sallie Moffat at the start, as many would not recognize the minor character.

I think it would have been interesting to have Ned Moffat's attraction towards Meg shown a little bit more. I mean, the movie already took some liberties so why not some more? It would have been interesting to show Ned and John both rivals for Meg and she realizes what she really wants when John helps Mrs. March.

In the book, Sallie Gardiner married Ned Moffat about the time John and Meg were married. Sallie and Belle were sisters, and Ned was Annie's brother.

Yes but she didn't marry him at this point in the movie (where Meg is about to attend the party). Unless they wanted us to assume she did.
