Disappointing movie

A lot of melodramatic shouting to accompany many minor, weakly motivated hitches encountered en route to freedom. Just one example: What was that about 'We're being attacked by planes'? The planes weren't even dropping bombs.

Scott Thomas gets top billing for her tiny, walk-on role. Lovely close-ups, though.

It took ages for Perrochon and Moinard to become decisive agents of good. And only one of the detainees (Feuchtwanger, good performance by RĂ¼diger Vogler) had a part that allowed the actor to have an impact.

Altogether, very low on tension. And no ending to speak of. They could have chosen any other true story and then spiced it better. What about filming Koestler's 'Scum of the Earth' for a start?
