This is my favorite movie of all time!!

Seriously, it's the best. I love the plot. I love the cast. I love the music. I love the setting.

It's been my favorite movie for almost 20 years now. No matter how many times I watch it, it's still entertaining.

Just thought you all should know! :)

I love this film! The casting was perfect and the locations are all superb. I just saw it again and fell in love with it all over again. Incidentally, I've never been a big Brad Pitt fan but I think this movie brought out the best in him and the rest of the cast. There isn't anything I would change about it.

I have watched this film many times and most of the times because of Brad Pitt, whom I like a lot. The film is beautiful, everything is beautiful, and every time , after watching it, I find myself thinking the same: how good this movie is ! How wonderfully acted and shot! How wonderful the characters, especially Tristan, Alfred, Susannah and the Colonel, how gorgeous Brad!
Seriously, there are scenes and moments and sentences which are heartbreaking and very very real, true to life.
When Tristan comes home again and the father appears with the Little board and writes " Am happy": this is wonderful! Or when Alfred and tristan are close to Susannah 's grave and Alfred tells Tristan that he had followed all the rules and yet all loved Tristan more......
And of course Brad trying to save Samuel and then cutting out his heart and courses God, or when he is crying at the grave of Samuel........

This movie is badly underrated. Not only does it have great acting, but it has a plot that is almost completely unpredictable. I have lost count on how many times I have watched this movie.

....definitely one of my favorite movies of all time.

I just watched it for the first time today and it's probably in my top 10, maybe top 5. Braveheart has some competition now!

Certainly in my top half dozen.

I'm jealous to hear you all love MY FAVORITE movie! I've been telling people I love this movie for 20 years and I always get strange stares. Most have never heard of it. Kinda nice but weird to know there are others like me.

I could watch it over and over again once a week and still find a nuance or expression on the actor's faces that I've never noticed before. Amazing acting by the entire cast. Most passionate and tortured love affair in a movie, followed closely by The Notebook but that had a happy ending. Great depictions of a close but dysfunctional family. Brad was at his best in this.

Funny, I love the genre. But I really disliked this show. I guess the bleak sad 'life chisels at and erodes your soul until you die' themes have not been my favorite lately. I get why people like it. It was a good show and I really cant pin the exact reason I disliked it so much.

I think it has to do with Tristan. I really like Brad Pitt as an actor and even his character was a really likeable guy, I suppose it was just the circumstances and some of Tristan's decisions that made me dislike it. Maybe the lack of control over his destiny or the whole "bear inside" (demons) subplot, and then how he is killed by the bear in the ending. Then Alfred coming back to save the day at the end even made me laugh a little. As I write this and think more about it I feel like the extremes of the plot got to me, like it was trying too hard to evoke emotion from the viewers.

Heck, maybe I just wasn't in the mood for this type of movie and caught it at the wrong time. I really liked the last of the Mohicans and that seems like a pretty similar movie, at least the scene, and a lot of the act as well. That was one of my top 20 movies maybe better and this one just fell way short for me. And I don't really know why and it's frustrating me, haha.
