Wendy Kroy????

What kind of a dumbass trick is it that her husband gets her name Wendy Kroy, by reversing New York? This is as lame as the trick where a hacker gets lucky guessing a password in Hollywood movies.

How improbable is that?

Since he knew his wife so well, he happened to guess it right, because she likes to spell things backwards. For all we know, maybe Bridget sort of wanted her husband to find her, so she could make sure he stays put, thinking he can catch her more easily. Either way, it worked out for her in the end. Who says someone can't guess right?

I speak as someone from small-town Massachusetts, who moved to New York, partly because of this film. For those of us who get our juice from living in this city, it does become something we obsess about. So it's only logical that Clay made this leap.

reply

I agree that it is farfetched. Not only that he guessed where she was because of her name but that it's quite a coincidence that her last name is York spelled backwards.

Two contrivances in a row.

reply

He didn't guess where she was. They had the area code from tracing the call. All they were missing was the name she was using.

Hey Clockwatcher...HUH???

One that she's in NEW YORK, and secondly that she would use the name spelled backwards, WEN(dy) KROY.

Remember, the post it note she wrote him while he was in the shower was written backwards. He figured out the alias when he looked at a New York poster in his mirror. It is a leap, but not an improbable one. I guess you can call it a Deus Ex Machina.

I took it as meaning she was a complicated woman. LAST SEDUCTION is still one of the quintessential films from the '90's.

I just took the fact that the husband figured out Wendy Kroy, by reversing New York because he knew her so well. Who knows, maybe they role played with that name at some point? Now if a total stranger, like a police detective, had figured out the name, then I'd be all "yeah, right".

The worse part of the upstate New York scenes for me is when they acted like Black people were aliens from another planet. Black people may not be the majority of people in the area, but they do exist in the north east United States. After all, the Underground Railroad back in slavery days ended around that area.

Life is never fair, and perhaps it is a good thing for most of us that it is not.

There may be no DY in New york, but if you watch that scene carefully then you see that she pauses after she says Wen, she had to make a name from it. the same thing probably went though the husbands mind.

I thought it was a cleaver part of the film, it shows how he knows her. i think it perfectly possible.

He doesn't guess her name. He reads it in a mirror - looking at himself he sees a reflection of a New York poster, he cocks his head to the side and the letters WEN KROY are revealed.
