Totally overrated piece of trash!

For years people have been telling me that I should see this movie, because it's sooo good... well, I saw it today, and I was mortified at how bad it was.

The plot was totally transparent. The acting was lame. There were no surprises, and there was zero suspense. There wasn't even any sexual heat in this movie. All the fake passion just left me cold. What a disappointment!

I wish I had the last two hours or so of my life back. What a waste of my time.

Completely agree. All you said and it's filled with homophobia and misogyny. Body Heat, which this tries so blatantly to rip off, is by far superior.

I'm going to shove coal so far up your stocking you'll be coughing up diamonds!

reply

I agree. Body Heat was so much better than this movie. The acting, the plot - everything.

The ratings must've been dependent upon the sexual situations factor. Some people, as long as they're seeing tits and whatnot, the film is good. Not even tits and ass could fix this loser of a flick.

reply

It does have a certain charm as a cult/camp movie, partly because of the terrible acting in places (the P.I. showing his dick? LOL The husband was a lame actor too) and most of all the completely idiotic story (black dudes taking the empty suitcase with them, leave the money LOL).

People who think this B-movie is anywhere close to Body Heat don't understand cinema.

reply

I haven't seen this movie in a long time, so I don't remember the misogyny. I do remember the misandry very vividly.

If one considers The Last Seduction "misogynist" (although that´s hardly what it is - in fact, it can just as easily be regarded as kind of a female empowerement movie), I don´t see how could one think of Body Heat as being less so.

what would you do with those two hours? probably nothing much. you are certainly entitled to your opinion, everybody has their own cup of tea, but really. piece of trash? you were not the least bit surprised that in the end she kills her husband by shooting mace down his throat? (wonder if that would really be fatal?) yah you knew that in the end, she would betray her naive lover, who was a bit hard to believe how dumb he was, but unless you have been obsessed with a woman, nobody knows really how far one would go to be with her, it is withing the realm of possibility. I watched it for the first time since it came out last night and really enjoyed it, compared with all the comic book movies that are out now that really require no thinking at all. I'll take the last seduction any day over another friggin batman movie!

I liked this movie. Of course, I saw it right when it first came out so I didn't get that, "Oh you HAVE to see it, you HAVE to, it's SOOOOOO good," from people. I usually tell people it's good but I don't gush. It was similar to Body Heat but there were quite a few differences.

The movie I was really sorry I watched was Jade. I thought that one was garbage. Pity, really. I don't know exactly what happened but lots of things went terribly awry with it.

§shut up net face.

Nothing much, huh? Maybe you shouldn't assume that you know what other people do based on what you do, which is probably nothing much.

Me, I have a family, a business, and a ton of responsibilities.

And I rented this stupid movie on the strength of other peoples' recommendation. I now think that they probably only liked it because of the nudity and the fake humping. This movie didn't require any major brain power to figure out the plot. In fact, who even cares? What a friggin' waste of my time!

dragonetta, think of all the valuable time you have additionally wasted in insisting on posting on this board about how much you hated this movie. instead of wasting time posting on this board, you could have been reading to your kids, or thinking up new ideas for your business.

Funny that, I reckon the new Batman movies, Watchmen movie, etc, flawed as they are, are far more intelligent and more convincingly plotted films than the Last Seduction"

We are firmly in the era of the comic book / action hero, sequals, prequals and franchise reboots. Enough already, I will take The Last Seduction over the latest Batman flick any day. Yes TLS was pretty much a riff on Body Heat, but at least it is not a subject and storyline with the same old cartoon characters that have been beaten to death over the past 10 years. Plus Linda Fiorentino was brilliant as the femme fatale.

reply

Especially Watchmen, which happens to have one of the most complex and well written plot/story of all time! My humble opinion...

DUDE ^^^ You are meant to write Spoilers beware! Now you've just spoiled the movie for the heap of people that read your post and haven't yet seen it. Good one -.-

reply

I assume from calling this movie a piece of trash you haven't had the privelige of watching films like alone in the dark or inland empire. Comparatively, its a masterpiece.
ok you didn't enjoy it thats your opinion. But you can't say the acting was terrible. Fiorentino gave an amazing performance which was Bafta nominated and there was even talk of Oscar if it hadn't screened on Tv first.
I think this is a great example of film noir and a great film. To say the plot was obvious and then compare it to Body Heat (which is another great movie) who's plot you can spot from the first 10 minutes is a poor comparison. Its the dialogue of these movies that makes it such a joy to watch.
Both these films should get credit for having a bad character provailing rather than a Hollywood sell-out of juctice conquers.

reply

Bravo tru-fan! I liked this movie better than body heat, although I never watched body heat more than once. it might be much better if I watched it now. your right it's the dialog, that's what's so great about the original film noir movies, fantastic dialog, sometimes too much dialog, but it's so great.I LOVE it when they break out of the ordinary and do something like have the bad guy actually come out triumphant, like you said. but most people would rather watch a movie about a fictitious half man/half bat in a cape killing bad guys with tons of special effects. sorry, I just don't get the appeal of comic book movies.

to each his own though. would not presume to say one type of movie is "better" than another. just what I like, and I liked this movie. (see, you can tell I'm not a snob, cause I said movie and not "film":)

There's no accounting for taste -- particularly in your case, because you don't have any to account for. 

Unlike you, the OP at least has a brain to account for.

Yes, you're absolutely, 100% correct!
