The ending...

...was too stupid to be believable. After having her plan explained to him by the husband, he then proceeds to do exactly what she wants? Why would he rape her? Why would he admit to killing her husband when he didn't? Why didn't he see the phone?... it was right in front of them both. It was unbelievably far-fetched.

No, you just don't get it. There's a difference.

What didn't I get?

He was too much in shock to think or function in his best interests. Duh. He didn't have time to sit and think about it like you. It was a crazy, murderous, scary situation with a psycho chick. Not a game of chess-by-mail.

"he then proceeds to do exactly what she wants?"

No, he didn't kill him. That was exactly what she wanted.

"Why would he rape her? Why would he admit to killing her husband when he didn't?"

Because she basically asked him to and he didn't think it meant anything or had any consequences... you forget how crazy he was about her body. Also possibly, she had outmaneuvered him and outsmarted him so much up to this point, maybe he was in despair at being fooled by her, and despite his innocence in the death of Clay, his mind was wrecked at the prospect that he was going to be publicly humiliated by being shown to be involved in this situation. She was so crazy he felt small and cornered despite the fact that he was the one with the gun, so he thought he might as well just give in to her demands and get a f**k out of it.

"Why didn't he see the phone?"
Because he was overcome by both rage and lust.

"It was unbelievably far-fetched."
Now you're finally right about something.

reply

Absolutely moronic. Why would he not shoot her instead of turning into a rapist out of nowhere?

But the whole movie consisted of moronic nonsense like that. Everyone believed every single word she said and went along with everything she wanted even though she was a a complete bitch.
