Ever had sex with a man before ?

At the bar she smells her fingers after touching his willy to check his personal hygiene. Then she asks if he has had sex with a man before. Why does it matter to her then ?. Later she begs to get raped knowing he has had sex with a man before. Anyhow, im more concerned with the coincidence. What are the chances of walking into a random bar and asking the first guy that speaks to you if he has had sex with a man before and then he actually has.lolz

Uhhhh...maybe you weren't paying attention.......or you didn't realize....that, THIS IS A MOVIE!!!! TA DA! Things that happen in a movie really ain't like real life. Duhh. Just thought you might wanna know...Joe.

Check out your brain before it rains. In real time.

That's not the point.

The point is that film makers are insulting the viewers intelligence, talking down to us, the audience and in doing so, ruin what could of been a thoroughly entertaining time well spent.

How many movies have you watched with plot holes so big that you can drive a truck through and how many people read the scripts, are they the ones who are brain dead?

I guess so because it's not us, the paying movie goers.

It's as if they don't care about us viewers, who pay the big bucks, who just happen to keep them gainfully employed.

Relax. The person who wrote that foolish, snarky post is an idiot who likely still lives with his mother.

Read the papers, my friend, it does happen in real life and these crap films influence sick people to commit these crimes.

He wasn't the first guy who spoke to her and she didn't randomly ask. He attempted to make a pass at her and she brushed him off until he claimed to be well-endowed. THEN she was interested in sleeping with him, so she asked about his sexual history.

Later she goads him about sleeping with a man because she knows it will anger him.

I heard it mentioned before that she knew about him before she met him and then i wondered about it. However, i do not believe this to be true because she took a cab out to Buffelo to find out who his wife was. If she already knew about him, there would be no need to go to see who his wife was as she would already have known.

Unless im wrong ?

I think the "real life" idea behind the first time she asks, is the reference to the widespread concern in the late 80s and in the 90s that gay/bisexual men were vectors of AIDS because of unsafe sexual practices among the male gay community. I'm not sure such a line would be acceptable today. And also, since this is indeed a film, it's the first hint of what we will later discover about Mike, which is that he has indeed had sex with a man.

Pretty sad if a line reflecting simple truths wouldn't be acceptable today.

At first she doesn't know anything about him, having just met him. After he says he is "hung like a horse", she wants to know more about his sexual history before sleeping with him. Later, after she finds out that he has actually had sex with a man, she uses this knowledge to anger him to the point where he will rape her. She wants him to rape her so she can get him locked up on rape and murder charges. A rape by a jealous b/f after killing the woman's husband would make sense as a plausible crime. The motives would be clear, so her side of the story would be more believable.

People were more concerned about AIDS then (no drug cocktails).

She smells her fingers to see if he has an STD. Asks about sex with men b/c that's (factually) more likely to transmit AIDS.

Simple.

OMG!! I never realized that you could smell STDs. That's amazing!! Wow!!!

Some STDs have symptoms that can present in an odiferous manner (you ignorant little twit).

The "have you ever had sex with a man" is a dominance thing. She's establishing her dominance by, in their first few minutes of meeting, asking a very personal question, and implying that he's gay/bisexual, an implication that most straight men, especially at the time, would find offensive. The fact that it's true probably also points to Bridgette's ability to read people. She knows that Mike is insecure about something and simply guesses that it's sexual.

Unless Alpert's covered in bacon grease, I don't think Hugo can track anything.

Presumably, she was concerned about AIDS.
