THE BEST MARTIAL ARTS MOVIE OF ALL TIME
...Nuff said
shareVery true.
Well, one of them.
shareagreed. as a remake of fist of fury, it does a remarkably good job. i quite like jet li's movies. (at least, the ones i've seen). but i had low hopes for this remake of the one true master of martial art cinema (bruce lee, if you even need to ask). it does have that "golden harvest" feel to it, a necessity for this movie. again, jet li does make good chinese cinema movies too. from the few i've seen. as for fist of legend? damn good movie.
sharebump
sharelooks as if you've never seen fist of fury or enter the dragon
shareIf Bruce Lee had finished Game Of Death that would probably be the greatest martial films ever but as he died before he could I would say it's out of Enter the dragon or fist of fury.
Once Upon A Time In The West is the best film ever made!
I have to disagree with you on Fist of Fury and ETD. Though Bruce is undoubtedly the best real life martial artist ever to act in martial arts movies, his films suck in comparison to movies made by Jackie Chan, Yuen Biao, Sammo Hung and Jet Li, as these actors make films for *entertainment* rather to display their Kung Fu prowess. Then end result is much more watchable movies. I have converted all my friends from Bruce movies to old school HK movies, it is just a case of seeing the right ones.
Here try some of these:-
-Prodigal Son
-Warriors Two
-Drunken Master 1 & 2
-Shaolin Temple 1,2 & 3 - Jet Li
-Shaolin Temple - Shaw Bros
The action in any of these movies are easily better than anything Bruce ever did. That said I still acknowledge him as one my heroes, possibly one of the hardest men who ever lived.
havent seen this one in a little while but Prodigal Son definately takes this one out
shareahhh a fellow fan of old school.
Prodigal son was Directed and Choreographed by Sammo Hung no less.
I think the newer kung fu fights look way too coreographed and stylized. Bruce Lee's fights were brutal.
shareI must admit the fight scene is still the best even so long ago, especially it try to compare bruce lee, lol 3 finger push up 1 hand too bad bruce lee did 2 finger that answer who will win if they actually fight, i like the fight scene he fight with the japanese clan master, the blind fight is trutly unique, plot is consider good for this genre, however jet lee got 1 more move left, u never that might the best of all his series, trailer LOOK ARESOME (FEARLESS)
shareim sure many will disagree, but i believe jet li is better than bruce lee. i own about 75 kung fu dvds and i am really into this genre of film. bruce lee's movies are amazing but they aren't better than everything jet li movie ever made. as for the initial post it is one of jet li's best and one of the best kung fu movies, but it is not the best ever made
shareNa, this is a great film(action wise), but I prefer Snake in the Eagles shadow, or Buddhist Fist to this film, all have great fights though.
sharethe film is a 9/10.
what Bruce Lee film is this a remake of???????????
I agree with the original poster. Amazing movie that changed martial arts films forever. Drunken master 1/2 and this are seriously amazing new age ma flicks.
Once I thought I was wrong but I was mistaken.
This is one of the best martial arts movies I've seen, but I got the sneaking suspicion at times that the combat was sped up- and I know there were wires in a few scenes.
I'd definitely pick Drunken Master (the one marketed in the U.S.- 2 I think?) as the greatest single martial arts movie. Drunken Boxing is such an amusing style and the moves Chan pulls off are clearly 100% for real (i.e. no cables or time manipulation).
Of course the fight scenes are sped up. That's the old Hollywood secret. Not just in this movie but most movies with fight scenes as well as car chasing scenes (very noticble in pre-modern movies).
My dog sexually abuses my left leg....all the time.
The movie is actually based on Bruce Lee's "Fist of Fury" aka "Chinese Connection". Please notice that another Bruce Lee film called "The Big Boss" was called "Fist of Fury" in some countries, so be sure to look for the right one.
Cheers,
Nek

did you seriously just say that you think Ong-Bak is the 2nd best martial arts movie of all time?
LOL
Tom Yum Gong is a FAR better Tony Ja movie in terms of fighting, and it still doesn't even come close to comparison with some of the movies listed already (drunken master 1 and 2, fist of legend, etc).
Ong-Bak was a good MOVIE -- excellent use of location scenery and interesting plot hook (e.g., spare me another avenge-my-fallen-master tale *cringe*).
Similarly, "Enter the Dragon"'s Warner Bros. added-polish in the form of awesome casting and a superb Lalo Schifrin score puts it right at the top of the heap where it belongs despite a lot of rough edges.
-- The martial-arts landscape is littered with thousands of talented fighters stuck in horrible films.

I was astonished after seeing this film. Fights were really intense and the storyline is famous but like with many things you cannot exactly say it's the best because there are new films like Ong bak and this other with long name and Tony Jaa.
Well, I am insane enough to think overwise.
I respect Bruce Lee. He did for martial arts movies so much and I respect him for that.
But I think in a fight though Jet Li would cream Bruce lee. Jet Li is much better martial artist than Bruce Lee. Much better than any kung fu movie star, in fact.

Bruce Lee trained to fight and developed a fighting style that went against convention because it had no fixed stances and he eliminated all unnecessary movements and actions purely for the purpose of fighting. In contrast, Jet Li studied wushu which is more of an entertainment form than fighting so i'd have to disagree and say that in a fight Jet Li would get whooped.

The famous kung fu master Wang Jack Man sais that Bruce Lee`s fighting style actually killed him. May be you have heard about Wang - Bruce Lee fought him. And Bruce Lee sais:"I have beaten him" or something like that. But there are proves that say Bruce Lee didn`t beat Wang. Some say that Wang just didn`t kill Bruce and let him win. Wang was master of northern kung fu - he was master of the kicks bt he didn`t use them because he didn`t want to kill Bruce Lee.
This is the coolest martial arts movie EVER! Jet Li was AMAZING! The final fight is classic cinema
sharemy favorite Jet Li movies are:
Fist of Legend
Kiss of the Dragon
Unleashed
