Most Impressive Kung Fu Films

Recently I've had a bit of a Kung Fu craze, especially Jackie Chan movies, but I am a little frustrated in finding exactly what I'm looking for. I have indeed watched Fist of Legend and it is one of my favorites so far, though the fast forwarding is a big drawback. Legend of Drunken Master is another favorite and Rumble in the Bronx is my favorite. You may disagree but I haven't found any other movie where the "random object as weapon" thing looks as cool. The movie Gorgeous (another Jackie Chan movie) has my favorite fight sequence at the end but the rest of it isn't Kung Fu heavy.

Unfortunately, finding these required me renting tons and tons of random Kung Fu movies and what I've found hasn't really satisfied me. IMDB reviews haven't exactly been helpful either. All I'm looking for is good fight sequences and I could care less about the story. I've been stuck with stuff like Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Hero or Kill Bill using excessive scene cuts and special effects to make it look pretty. Or New Police Story, a good drama with Jackie Chan but hardly any martial arts. Or movies like Mr. Nice Guy with all its stunts, car crashes and explosions but boring fight sequences. I've also watched Project A and a lot of Bruce Lee's stuff but it lacks the prettiness of Fist of Legend or Rumble in the Bronx.

Just wondering if anyone with real knowledge of the Kung Fu genre has any suggestions.

I've only got real knowledge of crappy martial arts-movies, so if you're looking for a good laugh or two, then try checking these flicks out:

"The Impossible Kid"

"The Super Ninja"

"Ninja in the Killing Fields"

"Mafia vs. Ninja"

"Challenge of the Tiger"

Cheers!

Have you seen Riki Oh: The Story of Ricky?

Dude, if you love crappy martial arts movies, you simply must see this (and be sure to watch it dubbed in English).

Well, I don't have "real knowledge" in kung fu, but I can certainly give you some suggestions on kickass martial arts movies with awesome fight sequences by filmmakers who care as little about the story as you and I do.

I'm not very knowledgeable on fighting styles, so the following list will probably range outside of kung fu into stuff like muay thai, etc.

The Tai Chi Master (2003) - Not the Jet Li movie. This one stars Wu Jing, and has a ridiculous number of well-choreographed fight scenes where Tai Chi is used in glorious fashion. My vote for the most underrated martial arts flick ever!

Here's more:

Tom Yum Goong (2005)
Ong Bak (2003)
Drunken Master (1978)
The Eight Diagram Pole Fighter (1983)
Fearless Hyena (1979)
Chocolate (2008)
Project A (1983)
A Snake in the Eagles Shadow (1978)
Dragon Tiger Gate (2006) - cheesy but fun
In the Line of Duty 4 (1989)
The City of Violence (2006) - taekwondo everywhere!

This is almost as good as Ip Man.
