color coding of characters

watching the film again recently, I couldn't help but to notice:

Lyric and Jason, the central characters of the film, and the "virtuous" ones in terms of behavior, are light-skinned.

Jason's brother Joshua (Woodbine) and Lyric's brother Alonzo (Treach), are both corrupt, "unvirtuous" characters in the film-- and they are both darker-skinned.

I can only presume that this was not intentional on the part of the filmmakers. Still, it's something that comes to mind when examining the subtext of the narrative.

I think that's just a coincidence and Jada's not even light skin. She's a lighter brown complexion, but she's not considered light skin.

I am about her color and sometimes I'm told I'm light skinned or even redbone I heard before and sometimes I'm told I'm more of a lighter side of caramel color. Go figure...
