The whole movie is just a throw off with no real clues about weather its a boy or girl. But the ending gives it away.

"Boy meets girl" (pat meets chris)
Girl loses boy
boy annoys girl (Pat annoys Chris)
girl wants boy to act differently" (Chris wants pat to act differently"

DMJ, know how obnoxious Pat is I think Pat may have been annoyed by Chris and also wanted chris to change.

I wonder too, did Pat and Chris have sex? they both seemed in capable of getting horny and having a senual encounter with another human being.

But I think Pat is a girl because of the way She acted by Kyle's advances. If a guy came on to another guy he wouldnt say "you're not my type". he say "Im not gay, get away you *beep* fag! I rip your head off and feed it to my rabid cat!"....sorry, just remember the first time a gay person hit on me. ewwwww!

Anyways Pat kept tellign Kyle, "Im not your type" and I guy wouldnt say that. So Pat must be a girl!

And I think Pat's a lesbian too! Chris was just a really ugly girl who is played by a man just to confuse the audience more.

Being the best is not what defines greatness.

Yeah but they couldnt just have them just say wheather its aboy or girl, so they had Pat say Your not my type.

reply

since pats a man and a woman ifd u saw the end of the movie he looked up androginist ( not spelled correctly) and saw what it looked like and it was his face and im pretty sure chris is an androginist so they must be gay so he didn't say that to kyle cause he's part woman part man which is supa creepy, ,,,, he was born like that.

hello people you are not getting the point aboput the movie being that pat is an androginist which isn't spelt correctly now but it's a he she ok my god

reply

the only time androgonist was mentioned was when the thugs were asking Pat. Pat didnt know what it meant so she played along saying :Yeah thats me" and so on. Then when he or she found out, they ran off because they felt embarassed then got their hair done to look like what they are.

pat isn't both a man and a woman- the definition of androginist said you can't tell if it's a man or a woman, not that it's both

reply

if i saw it walking down the street i would think it was a man straight away,i cant see how it looks like a woman...............................

On SNL where the character of Pat was born. There was a skit done with Harvey Keitel(Adam Sandler's father in the movie "Little Nicky") but in this skit you find out that Pat is actually a girl. Sorry to destroy the arguement/discussion.

They are both cross-dressers, Pat and Chris and that's why they were made to each other. Unfortunally to Pat, Dave Foley looks much better with a blond wig and lipstick than Julia Sweeney with glasses and body-props.

i just watched that skit with harvey keitel.

they never said that pat was a girl in that sketch, are you retarded?

at one point harvey keitel's character even wrote in his diary "i have had sex with pat 8 times, but i still don't know what pat is."

then at the end of the scene he asks pat outright whether pat is a man or a woman and pat is about to answer and then adam sandler screams from the audience and begs pat not to answer, so pat doesn't.

in the movie i think the girl meets boy thing is the closest they've ever come to revealing pat's sex, but it's still somewhat ambiguous and the words could definitely describe either one of them.

i do think that pat is a boy though and chris is a girl. that's what makes it even funnier by having a man play an androgynous looking female, and pat playing an androgynous looking male.

also think about the scene at the ween concert when everyone starts clapping loudly. i doubt they would clap that loudly for a vagina. i bet pat was extremely well endowed. the movie was one of the worst pieces of *beep* i've ever seen though. it's not even a "so bad it's almost kinda good" movie like say, freddy got fingered. i have no idea who wrote or directed this thing, but they should be exiled to mongolia. to be fair though the only good SNL character movie i can recall is wayne's world. the rest are pretty universally terrible.

Julia Sweeney has admitted that Pat is supposed to be female, plus Julia Sweeney is a woman so it makes sense.

I wonder how real transgender people feel about this movie.

reply

I never respond to threads on this site but the last post urged me on...

I am not transgender. Pat is not either. Transgender people want to change gender. Pat is androgynous. That means that you can't tell JUST BY LOOKING. Many of you confuse that with hermaphrodite or intersex - that means you are both, biologically (SEX ORGANS).

I grew up androgynous - meaning that out in public, people could not tell if I was male or female. I am female, biologically speaking. There is no confusion. I sometimes ACT like a girl. Sometimes like a guy. I fit in with both genders. I understand both. My mind is both.

Not saying Pat is that - but likely.

Anyway, I was a child through all of that, and the way society treated me completely screwed me up. I won't get into it...it's too hard to explain. By the way, I walk down the street and appear 100% female now, 20 years later, although I make more of an effort as an adult because I experienced first hand how rude people are.

Society is angry and disgusted by people when they cannot immediately figure out their gender. They often treat people like this horribly, even if they are children, and even if they don't realize that their behavior is very hurtful.

People think this issue is funny. Or done on purpose (by Pat). Yes, the underlying theme is that gender does not matter, but that definitely does not come through in this movie. All that comes through is that everyone NEEDS to know, and finally, they do, even though Pat is utterly humiliated. Not because they know - but just to be displayed naked, most people would be embarrassed in that situation.

Yes, the jokes are funny. "I crushed my nuts". Although, this is only funny for so long - but the same is true for many SNL movies - just not enough humor for a whole film.

But the theme is missed. And that's a shame. In my opinion, the producers (or someone) didn't give a crap about actually presenting gender equality (if that was ever intended), and instead portrayed the character(s) as ugly, offensive, and somewhat of a burden on society.

You know - some other cultures (East Asia, etc) recognize that there can be a third gender - someone who is both, and not necessarily a hermaphrodite (which refers to sex organs). They have a word for it, similar to our "him" or "her". This way, we don't need to say "it" about a human being. Or, they simply have one word, and make no distinction between gender when talking about someone. They won't say him. Or her. One word will encompass all, as is the way it should be.

Some people are both IN THEIR MIND, and sometimes that is displayed outwardly. What they wear, how they walk, talk etc - and it can go back and forth. Day to day or moment to moment.

Not all of these behaviors can be used to indicate SEX. Look how that person walks - must be a man. That kind of statement is as false as saying that anyone in a pink shirt must be a woman. So many of our "gender distinctions" are completely false in the first place.

Sorry for the slight rant. The end.
