Pics and story of real 'Iron will'

This race actually occurred and the American was named Hartman. Interesting facts about him here:

He was heroic because he chose to continue the race without his lead dog in temperatures of -25 F suffering frostbite. He also really did stop to help another driver.

"One of the less believable scenes in "Iron Will" has Will Stoneman stopping to help another driver who has come down with a fever. Truth, in this case, is as strange as fiction, because Fred Hartman really did accompany Gunnar Tommasson into Melrose, Minnesota -- where Tommasson collapsed from a fever and dropped out of the race."

He didn't win the race but still got $1,000 or so from donations. Amazingly first prize in the real race was $500 not $10,000 which was a lot back then in 1917. He later fought in WW1 and survived it. Enjoy the movie
