Best Vampire movies thus far

These choices are purely subjective, based on my own impressions from viewings.

1. Interview with the Vampire - shows the lingering humanity in the night creatures
2. The Lost Boys - a fun, 80's classic about teenage vamps that still holds up
3. Fright Night - this one's a guilty favorite, starring a young Amanda Bearse and the late Rodey McDowell.
4. Blade - just a badass character in a man-vs-vampire world. He's also a Marvel guy!
5. Near Dark - a caravan of vampires that roam the Southwest in a camper, feeding off barflies and drifters.

Thanks! I've seen Fright Night but it was so many years ago that I don't remember much of it. I really should see it again sometime.

Pleased to meet you too!

I really need to see Nosferatu. It's been on my movie "bucket list" for some time.

You really should when you get a chance. Even if you don't particularly like it, it can easily be appreciated for how influential it has been to the vampire genre.

1. Interview with the Vampire - already mentioned
2. Underworld - a very Blade-esque film, but with werewolves
3. Let the Right One In - a bullied kid makes friends with a child vampire and becomes her caretaker
4. Blade - already mentioned
5. Once Bitten - a weird, hilarious 80s teen film starring Jim Carrey as a guy who just wants to get laid and ends up being enslaved by a 400 year vampire countess

I'd throw From Dusk Till Dawn in there just for good measure. Overall I agree that IWTV is one of the best vampire movies of the modern era , say 93-present.

The new Fright Night is awesome fun, great vampire story n movie.
Not campy at all, and also kinda realistic with the idea of how a vampire could exist in a modern world.
Also, we live in shadows, silly but again, good concept of how they could exist today.
