Graphicness

I read how this film is rated R? Is it that bad?

reply

While there are a few scenes of violence and physical abuse, there is one graphic and violent scene that is especially disturbing, warranting the R rating.

Thanks for the info! I may just skip over that scene if its too disturbing. My music teacher told me he's heard from other students its a great movie! Can't wait to start watching it later today!

There's two scenes with bare boobies, one including a half second of pubic hair, god forbid! I think that's why the R rating. Can't think of what disturbing scenes'd cause an R.
It's a good movie altho its premise is totally false. : > ) : >

Hmm. There is a violent scene in the woods involving a bunch of soldiers and a woman and what I assume is her husband. I haven't seen the entire movie.

Countess von Gallenberg (nee Guicciardi) gets gang-raped by French soldiers.
Her rape's shown briefly and not at all explicitly in terms of bodily exposure.
She's shown about fully clothed, with a soldier mounting her, thrusting up
between her legs apart. The most graphic part comes in the aftermath.
She's shown lying on the ground, bleeding from her neck, as her husband attempts
to comfort her. She does survive.

In a chronologically later scene (though set earlier in the film), she alludes
to her rapes as 'some unpleasantness'. A close-up is shown of her neck's scar.

I know of no evidence that the real Countess von Gallenberg was ever raped.
So I assume that this unnecessary scene was added for its dramatic shock value.

No not really. As the other poster says, one clothed rape scene, and a few titty shots. All of it was very much in context.
