Best joke in cinema history

Steven Fry as Meg Ryan's love interest!
How we laughed...

reply

What's so funny about that?

reply

Stephen Fry is gay; however, he has portrayed heterosexual characters, as in Cold Comfort Farm. Unlike Rock Hudson, though, he isn't quite as convincing in those roles as he is in, say, Wilde. Still, he is a fine actor, comedic or otherwise, and his performance here is great.

reply

Oh, sigh. He's an actor. How's that funny ?

Or are you one of these tedious droogs who thinks it's ridiculous when a gay actor plays a het character, but "brave" or "daring" when a het actor plays a gay character ... ?

You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.

Maybe the OP was referring to his looks rather than his sexual oreintation.

reply

Whatever his sexual orientation, he had some good scenes as Robbins' rival. His reactions during the I.Q. test were great, and his demeanor when first "inviting" Robbins to take the test were deliciously intimidating.
