Walter Matthau

Who else absolutely loved Walter Matthau in this movie? He was great!

reply

I can't think of another actor who would have fit the part better. He is so lovable. And he looks like Einstien.

VAHOOOOOOOOO!
what a ledge.

Yes, he automatically brings a level of playfulness to any role. Nice.

Life is never fair, and perhaps it is a good thing for most of us that it is not.

When I first heard about this movie, I couldn't believe Walter Matthau was going to play Einstein.

After I saw it, I couldn't imagine any other actor doing it.

I absolutely loved Walter Matthau in this movie, just as I love him in all his movies (except for "Hanging Up," which was embarrassing). His death has created a void in this world, but if you look up into the stars, you can see him!

I miss Walter-He's great in IQ.

Yes, he completed only two or three films after this. I was an extra on set in this film and in a few scenes with Matthau. He was always "on," loose, and kidding with the other actors. He burst into a room full of extras waiting for shooting to begin and he said, in character "Alvays remember: E=MC squared!" In the scene where the ruse is finally revealed, he kept changing the lines, inviting people to break for donuts in the lobby, "some mit jelly in dem!"

After seeing this one, I certsainly can't picture anyone else playing him. I wish they had done as well in casting somebody as President Eisenhower who looked more like Ike.
