In 1999 I was upgraded to First Class on a flight on Lufthansa from Germany to LA. Lo and behold seated next to me was Nick Nolte. We struck up a conversation and talked almost non-stop for 10 1/2 hours. He really wanted to talk and regaled me with lots of interesting "Inside Hollywood" stories.

Bottom line...he absolutely despises Julia Roberts! And he's not alone. He is good friends with John Malkovich. He told me that Malkovich threatened to kill Julia Roberts when they were filming Mary Reilly. Why? Because she was an out of control Diva who disrespected everyone she came in contact with......
