What's with all the movies labeled China/HK.

This is blantantly a Chinese film. Hong Kong people or companies had nothing to do with this. A lot of other mainland films have the Hong Kong tag too on IMBD.

Hi Lizzy,

I'm not sure in the case of this particular film, but mainland Chinese filmmakers often go through a go-between Hong Kong company at some stage in the production of their films. There are two reasons for this: first because Hong Kong producers have much more substantial financial means and a much greater freedom of movement, and second because if a mainland Chinese can be officially listed as being Hong Kong-produced it can then bypass various broadcasting and censorship laws in China. A production company from Hong Kong also means that any litigation carried out against the film would be settled in the Hong Kong courts, which are self-administered and operate according to the British legal system - this makes them immune to political influence from the Chinese government, and discourages the Chinese authorities from trying to prosecute actors or directors on politically motivated charges just because they disapproved of the film.

Hope this helped,

C
