Maine Pyar Kiya is more interesting and more love story from HAHK. When a saw MPK i want to be just like Prem, but HAHK is blockbuster too! But my decision is for MPK!!!

Both are awesome movies. But I somehow felt more involved with Maine Pyaar Kiya! Bhagyashree was magic in that movie and the epitome of innocence!

HAHK by a mile! The characters are so realistic in HAHK, even if there isn't any conflict until the end. The family seems real, the moves and movements are genuine, and it's one of the few Bollywood movies where I feel the camera stays and lingers; the camera movement takes its time and thus I feel I know the characters more. The songs and dances are also better--I'm not Indian but I think there is something about a timeless song that is apparent no matter where you are from.

MPK is okay, but the story doesn't interest me, and the main actress is not anywhere close to as expressive as Madhuri. The heavy lifters of that movie are the girl's father and the boy's mom; they do the best acting and their characters are the most complex. Although who wouldn't want to watch Salman lift heavy rocks in his undershirt?

I know they are both considered highly, but for me there isn't even a comparison. (I suppose I am also not overly fond of love at first sight plot points) Everything in HAHK is so high quality (including the costumes, which I forgot to mention). Everything just came together to make it amazing.

Now if only someone would redo the English subtitles. Why are so many Bollywood movies so poorly translated? The only one I have seen where it was obvious someone cared about the meaning in English being as clear as in Hindi was Awara.
