I agree with you completely. It has been many years since I saw either Highlander or Highlander III, but am researching them now as part of a uni project. The one thing that I can remember clearly about Highlander III (aside from the highly unlikey way that Macleod's sword gets smashed to dust) is that there was a list as long as my arm of parallels between the two movies.

shareI noticed this the first time I watched it. But after the way the original ended, what else could they do but copy the original? I'm not sure what was originally planned for HIGHLANDER 2, but it's kind of hard to make a sequel where the goals of the hero and villain are the exact same as before.
