Maybe the immortals can feel each other? Bigger question is how Kane and his henchman even get to the US. This really makes the movie feel rushed.

Well, according to Ramirez they would feel a pull to a faraway land so there is that. How they arrive to the US isn't exactly spelled out but we do see Kane walking down the dock the first time we see him on American soil so it would imply he came by boat.
Then there is the original "Director's Cut" in which we see him step out of a portal at that same dock.

While immortals can feel each other when they're nearby, I believe they're supposed to all be pulled to the same place at the end, the gathering, which seems to be in New York. They would've been drawn to that, presumably.

Immortals can sense one another through the Quickening. This concept is brushed upon in the first film, as Ramirez is able to track down Connor from Spain. It's elaborated upon in the series as well.
