Why didn't Russell Mulcahy direct H3?
Just wondering.he did the first two.Why not this one?
shareMaybe he felt he had already filmed that script.

Most people let their full measure of life drip away. Like me.
Personally I think it's because he felt screwed over after the events of Highlander 2. First, they changed his script; then, they reedited into the crappy theatrical version that he all unfortunately saw; and soon afterwards, when Mulcahy tried to have his name changed to Alan Smithee on H2, they wouldn't let him, because they thought it was a threat to the success of the film. He just didn't want to go through the nightmare again, so he didn't do H3.
shareIt's a shame because Russell Mulcahy is the one person who probably could have made Highlander 3 watchable. Sure, H2 is a mess but at least Mulcahy's direction is pretty spectacular.
shareI think he was a one point considering returning for HIGHLANDER: THE SOURCE, but backed out because of disagreements over the script or something. THE SOURCE is the only film I have yet to see, but I've heard only bad things.

If you are really interested, Spoony, an online film and game critic, did a pretty extensive review of Highlander: The Source, going in depth over all the major scenes, and his point of view pretty much matches mine- it was somehow even worse than Highlander II: The Quickening.
And FURTHERMORE, this is my signature! SERIOUSLY! Did you think I was still talking about my point?
Spoony's videos for QUICKENING and SOURCE are awesome. He also did a crossover video for ENDGAME. I hope he does a video for the third film someday.

I guess that after all the bad experiences making Highlander II, he just passed!

Prostitute: What the *beep* are you doing?
Johnny: I'm gonna kill a bunch of people.
Dunno, I kno Gregory Widen, Highlander creator, was originally attached to write and direct Endgame when it was stilled Highlander IV: The Search For Connor MacLeod. I don't know how much of his script made to that movie, he gets no credit, other than based on characters as always.
