So how did he justify that...?!?

Ok... so after Conner starts to beat up the would be muggers & gets shot & taken to the hospital, how exactly did the doctor justify taking someone who was brought in for medical treatment bleeding & unconscious and just locking him away in a psych ward? Thanx for any & all replies, thoughts & opinions!!

That scene has always bothered me, as it stands it doesn't make sense. I like to think the doctor is either incompetent or had an 18-hour shift and isn't his usual self. That and the lousy cop actors are the low points of this, in my mind, otherwise entertaining movie.

seemed to me like the doctor was one of those that doesnt put up with any shenanigans. i know a couple of doctors like that where they just dont have the patience for what isnt necessarily a live threatening situation , especially in a busy hospital.

i can understand how if they bring some guy off the streets who clearly has no wounds, would seem like if someones playing a bad joke and wasting the doctor's time. then when said stranger starts acting all hysterical and seems like a threat...well not too far fetched that he would be locked up. but i was expecting him to be in a prison cell momentarily, not put in a psych ward.. but i guess the ward is what they had available.

they dont seem to bring the cops in until after a headless corpse is found. but i would have found it more entertaining if they had Connor in jail. sure it would have seem like yet another ripoff of the scene in the original. but after being like 7 years later, it would have been kinda fun to see him yet again be interrogated for another beheading case.

Sadly there was a few points in this movie that didn't make sense, and yes I also agree with whomever said the cop actors were pointless and delivered crappy performances. What really annoys me is the fact this movie has a reported 26 Million dollar budget, however I just don't see if. Also, was this movie shot on video tape instead of film? I ask mainly because that's what it looks like to me.

Oh, this was shot on film alright. Super-35 to be more precise. Not sure what DVD edition you have been viewing but I've found quality and colour timing to vary a bit depending on release.

It's a plot hole.
Medical doctors can't have you committed, anymore than the barista at Starbucks.

Nor can they sedate an unruly patient in the emergency ward, that's assault.

The guards can subdue him, until the proper authorities arrive, then a phsychiatrist can hold him for 72 hours of observation. (then a medical doctor can sedate him)
