One thing I noticed on Youtube....

....is that all of the "Highlander: The Sorcerer" climatic fight scene footage....does not feature the full song with lyrics. In "The Final Dimension" cut, they always used the 'Dr. Feel Good' riff....but on my DVD ("The Sorcerer")....they have that music and the lyrics. I just find it strange that I haven't come across this anywhere else.

Depending on territory of release, re-issues and dubbed versions you will get a really varied selection of music in that film and not just for that particular scene. I have a wide selection of DVDs from around the world and it is quite interesting the number of variations between them.

The Sorcerer cut has a different soundtrack than the American 'The Final Dimension' release.

i have both. also have the film's soundtrack and those are some really good songs. sad that most of them dont get featured in the american release.

i really enjoy hearing Honest Joe's opening when Kane burns down that village in the beginning of the film. gives it a different feel but makes it more rockish sounding similar to the original Highlander's use of Queen songs.

I found the music in the scene when Kane burned the village to be out of place in The Sorcerer. It worked better in The Final Dimension.

However, the music during the hooker scene, the car kidnapping scene, and the last fight between Connor and Kane are all better in The Sorcerer. Overall, I enjoy that version of the movie more. Unfortunately, the only copy I have of it is a bad fullscreen DVD, which is almost unwatchable now on my current equipment....

guess for me it fit well because it just sorta has that japan/samurai feel to it.
i personally always enjoyed seeing the Highlander 3 music video that would play on MTV every so often. yet the song was never in the film.
so to hear the instrumental part appear in the Sorcerer cut was a real treat.

yea the Sorcerer cut had actual songs instead of just the score playing over things, which felt a little repetitive.

yes i too have that 4x3 DVD. at the time i had ordered it about 10 years ago, i didnt realize it was in 4x3 until i had the thing in my hands. instead i just put the better release of the Final Dimension in the bluray player and put the Sorcerer disc in the old dvd player while hooked to the receiver.a clunky setup in getting it started, but its the better experience for me.

i'm still holding out for a region-free bluray of The Sorcerer. there is one out now but i believe it is region locked.

That's insane! I just might have to try it!

yea getting it synced and ready can be tricky depending on how speedy the players are at startup.
the The Final Dimension DVD that says SPECIAL DIRECTORS CUT up top is the Sorcerer's cut minus the soundtrack and opening titles. so that one syncs up just fine.

could always just rip the track from the Sorcerer's DVD and then author it in as a second audio track on a ripped The Final Dimension image. that way you just burn your own custom copy and can select the Sorcerer audio from the remote.

never got around to doing that as i dont watch the film very often as i do the first movie.

The German blu-ray is region-free.

well thats good to know. though the price is still a bit high for a barebones release. i'll wait till the price goes down a bit.

The picture quality on the German blu-ray isn't all that good either unfortunately. No real fine detail, colours seem too heavily boosted as if to disguise its shortcomings. The source used also carries the on-screen German title "Die Legende" as opposed to "The Sorcerer" and some brief on-screen German text during non-English dialogue which are inherent to the print and non-removable. The disc does feature optional English subtitles as well as optional German subtitles so that is a plus, albeit a minor one.

Hopefully some other distributor can drop some coin and do a faithful 4k or 6k scan. I've always preferred the quality of the French DVDs of H3. Unfortunately StudioCanal seem to have taken it out of print both as part of their trilogy set and as a single release. One can only hope they have some plans for it, after all they do like their Lambert...

Add some seamless branching and we can have all the various cuts and soundtrack variations on one disc. The only way I can see that happening is if something like Arrow or Second Sight in the UK got the rights to it.
