'Special Director's Cut' - What the heck is THIS?

Just noticed this...

http://www.amazon.com/Highlander-Final-Dimension-Christopher-Lambert/dp/1558908463/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/103-1517420-0327057?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1179737145&sr=8-1

It's listed as having come out April 5, 2005, is listed at 80 (!) minute runtime (80? the DVD I own, which came out in 1998, is listed at 99 minutes).

The cover looks the same as the Final Dimension DVD, but it says "Special Director's Cut."

Anybody watch this? What's different? What could they possibly have added that would justify me selling my old disc to obtain this one?

A friend of mine recently watched "The Sorceror" just to see what was different and couldn't tell any differences except the title screen (I guess he missed the two very minor changes listed on the IMDB.com alternate versions page).

So anybody see the Director's Cut? (I thought "Final Dimension" WAS the director's cut of HL III: The Sorceror? But you know how they are with these new editions of Highlander movies).

Talk about confusing.. I never even saw this thing advertised.

Is this thing different than the DVD that came out in 1998, and if so, in what ways?

Anybody willing to risk $17 (+S&H) to find out for me?

Well, sounds like it's not worth my time.

HL3 just isn't that good of a movie to begin with for me to
care about whether it's anamorphically enhanced or not at this point,
and the tiny differences between "The Final Dimension/III: The Sorceror" and
this "special director's cut" are so minimal as to be pointless.

Whew! I need to stop caring whether or not I have the "latest and best"
version of a movie on DVD. That double-dipping scam has gotten me far
too often! ;P

Well I see you can now order it for a penny ($4 if you include shipping which is $1 more than it costs to "rent" it via instant video on amazon.com).

I finally sold my copy (for peanuts of course). Enough of that! Got my hands on the UK blu-ray of the 1986 film, which is washing the bad taste of this movie from my mind. Pity though that the "new" deleted scenes aren't any of the ones they teased so long ago with those stills (I guess that footage is lost forever). Still cool to see though!

the 1998 DVD release is the same as the 1995 Director's Cut of Highlander The Final Dimension. just that its in widescreen.

the 2005 DVD release is a mix of The Sorcerer cut. it has Kane arriving by boat instead of by portal. and the end credits play Bonnie Portmore instead of God Took A Picture of Me. its also a slightly better transfer, so picture quality is improved over the 1998 release.

the Sorcerer DVD releases are essentially the same movie. but without the added CGI, lots more songs playing thru out the film, Kane arrives by boat, different opening title card, and the final Quickening does not have snippets of the original film's final Quickening.

What's up with the 2011 DVD release? Is it any different from the 98 and 05 ones? Is the blu ray of the original film better in the UK than the US version?

If I didn’t talk the way I talk I wouldn’t know who the hell I am, Sean Connery on his accent
