Widescreen Japanese dvd

Hello,
Does anybody have the widescreen Japanese dvd? Apparently that is the only way to see it in 2:35 widescreen. I have tried to purchase it on Amazon.co.jp but it says that it cannot ship to my address. That seems to happen on most foreign amazons when you order from a private seller.

Any one know of another site besides amazon.jp that sells the widescreen version?
Basically I just want a 16:9 2:35 widescreen version of this movie. I cannot support the USA dvd as it is full frame.

I own the Japanese edition of Gunmen and it is indeed an anamorphic widescreen presentation of the film in its original aspect ratio. The DVD has gone out of print so the sole option is buying it secondhand and as you have noticed finding a Japanese marketplace seller gladly accepting international orders is proving to be quite difficult. There is always the possibility that the Japanese distributor will re-issue this as it happens from time to time, usually as a limited edition.

The only place I have found this is Amazon Japan, and it's practically impossible to translate or navigate. I'm desperate for a widescreen version of this.

There should be an option somewhere to view Amazon.co.jp in English -- that'd help at least a little bit, though it wouldn't translate the sellers' descriptions.

I suggest taking a look at Yahoo Japan Auctions, as well. As I said in my post below, it's definitely worth the trouble!

I have it, and it was definitely worth every single yen! The movie just loses a lot with the sides cropped off (the beach scene with the little girl is a good example of this). The DVD even offers English subtitles, and a Japanese dub.

If you can't find anyone who's willing to ship internationally, I'd suggest using a middleman/proxy buyer. That's how I usually do it, when buying stuff from Japan.

I certainly would prefer a widescreen DVD, but the movie is available on iTunes in its proper widescreen presentation in standard and HIGH definition. I just rented it myself. I haven't watched this movie since the '90s, but I remember liking it a lot. Great cast and all, too!

I just got it from iTunes too. I've been so annoyed for so many years to watch the 4:3 version :S

But it is not HD though, just upscaled SD.

I really like this movie and I appreciate you mentioning it on iTunes :)
