I have visited the Truman home in Missouri 3 times and I always think of this movie. They had a house across from the home where the secret service people lived. I hope Bess wasnt as cantankerous as Tess.

I always heard Bess was a bitch.

It has always been my understanding that this movie was loosely based on her.
