Nice little treat, a special one for the ages

I just watched this again. It's always a nice little treat, the back and forth between 1st Lady Tess Carlysle and Special Agent In Charge Doug Chesnik.

With the exception of already knowing the final outcome, the respect her Agents show, even while she pecks them to death is refreshing.

Shirley MacLaine and Nicholas Cage are at their best here, along with the other actors.

The only problem that I have with this little gem, is like the underside of a diamond, sharp and pointy, but we know it's there, just like the last 10 seconds - 'her family'.

As she states, they don't talk much, probably don't see the grandkids either -- yet just like an opportunistic infection (or the Kardashians) - front and center 'taking advantage' of the photo ops. Ohh, well.

Indeed. What a lovely movie, I actually don't remember watching it start to end, but apparently I have since I remember all parts of it and the ending.

Caught it yesterday on the cable and genuinely LOLed on the scene when they go to the opera.

The front car with Tess is boring and dull with classic music playing, while the boys in the back car are tapping, karaoke singing and shoulder dancing on a ecstatic rock'n roll song and the driver and the guy next to him are going for the high pitch with an invisible mic in their hands :)))
