What was the point of Doc and his wife still going to N M.?(spoiler)

Doc and his wife, along with his partners pull off the crime. Doc meets Rudy at their meeting place and Doc shoots Rudy thinking he killed him because Rudy double crossed everyone. He goes to Benyons house and James Woods is killed who happens to be the boss of this whole crime spree. With all those people dead and Beyons crew hunting them down, why would Doc still go to the hotel in New Mexico to complete the trade-off if everyone was dead? He should have just went straight to Mexico. Plus it didn't make sense for Rudy to play games with the Vet and his wife when he should have just went straight to Benyons house to help search and look for Doc and his wife.

The plot of this movie doesn't seem to add up unless I missed something....

They (Doc & Rudy) were supposed to go to Tuscon to split up the money after the meeting with Benyon. If they were "hot" they would go to the hotel in El Paso to get new passports and slip into Mexico. Since everybody died, there was no reason to go to Tuscon so Doc and his wife went straight to El Paso. That's where Rudy and Benyon's me caught up with them. They had to go to El Paso to get new ID's so they could make their getaway into Mexico.

As far as Rudy messing around with the vet and his wife, well he needed some medical attention and would need some help to keep the bandages clean. Plus, who wouldn't want to play around with Jennifer Tilly :).

Other than that, I wouldn't look too hard at the plot. It was an entertaining movie, but not some grand masterpiece of cinema.

To me the plothole was Doc telling them all the exact address the new ID would be at. Why not just say 'El Paso', or 'New Mexico', even. Plenty of time to be more specific (if necessary) at the money split in Tucson, if everyone stuck to the bargain and no-one tried to pull a double cross (like that was ever going to happen). But yes, no real pretensions to be great cinema, so probably not fair to nit-pick too much.

i will pay attention the next time i watch it. it does seem silly he'd give the address.
