GK fans

is there any GK fans

reply

Yeah, GK rules - Played, and finished, all three games; loved them. The first one is my favorite!

Sure! SOTF was the coolest adventure game ever! I still remember the moment, when I thought of throwing the talisman to Mosley, like him and Gabriel had discussed in the very beginning of the game (when talking about their teacher). It's little stuff like that, that made this game feel like a movie. I wish they'd make one!

What I want is a remake of GK1 with modern graphics.. To this day, I've propably never seen better plot / script in a videogame. Simply awesome

I'm a bit slow... :D

I bought the 2nd game first (absolutely loved it) then bought the 1st one but apparently forgot that I had it (!) I've found it now and currently playing it.

Gabriel knight is the best adventure game ever made, and I am a bit angry with Jensen for not making a fourth, or at least writing it as a book. The buzz said that she might, and in the third game it is hinted what the next one would be about.
Most of all I do not like the way matters was left between Gabriel and Grace.

But still, I would rather have these three games, than seeing them make something foul like "Quest For Glory 5"

"What I want is a remake of GK1 with modern graphics"

Modern graphics? The graphics (especially the close-ups during the conversations) are wonderful and should not be changed in my not humble opinion. Although, I must confess that I'm a little curious about what a "modernized" version of "GK" would look like.

If you found any spelling or grammatical errors in this message, feel free to tell me so but do it in a proper and constructive way. Thank you, very much.

It would be interesting to see a remake of Sins of the Fathers, maybe for Gamecube or Xbox. They really need to bring the old computer games back and better than ever. I love Gabriel Knight! Plus, I think he's kinda cute! :)

Wasn't there some difficulties between Sierra, Jane Jensen and Vivendi? Something about the rights for the characters etc. was owned by all three, and Vivendi wasn't interested in making the 4th game? Can't remember... Just that the 4th game was (SPOILERS) supposed to take place in Scotland, with ghosts and stuff.

What shall it profit a man, if he gains the whole world, but loses his own soul?

reply

Yeah Im still a huge fan of GK and would love a 4th installment... All these posts talking about old school games has put me back in the mood... I think i might play number 2 again i remember i was only very young when i first got it and started playing it... So I think it will be like playing it all over again...

i was blown away with this one too ive been ever since into movies about the occult b-horror and mystery and u know all this stuff. i really liked the alone in the dark series too..for all gabriel knight fans out there check out these movies which are somehow relevant to the Gabriel Knight world atmosphere:

The Believers
Curse of the Demon aka Night of the Demon
The Devils Rain
Race with the Devil

Any other accurate recommendations would be appreciated. ive handpicked these myself out of hundreds of horror mystery and bmovies and have been very strict on atmosphere. im pretty sure that at somepoint someones gonna dig this up and make it into a hollywood film but im not sure if they ought to.i mean look at alone in the dark i loved the game they **c*d the movie completely. gabriel knight is the best mystery/horror adventure of all time i guess even even movie goes should play this one for the story and suspense only. i played 10 min of the third one but i had to let go the 3d engine was a sheer dissapointment if they ever make a 4th one they should go gor something like broken sword enhanced to gabried standards or make it like phantasmagoria would look like in 2006...???i dont know...anyway curse of the demon is more alone in the dark now that i think of it..

Here's one more fan.

Yeah, it sucked to have such a cliffhanger and then learn there won't be fourth game. It's like when all the great tv shows get cancelled in favor of games and reality.

I have the novel of the first game, but have yet to find a copy of the second one. Too bad the third one didn't get novelized, and JJ must have been pretty upset when "The Da Vinci Code" was published.

reply

Well, I know I sure as hell was.

reply

heh was I the only one thinking "Gabriel Knight did it better" when reading the Da Vinci code?

I'd love to see a fourth too... don't see it happening though :/ really sucks to play good games, nine times out of ten they don't catch on and don't get sequels

reply

Oh hell yes x.x The thing with GK3, even though it's the weakest of the series (still great all the same), is that you get to discover everything about the Rennes-Le-Chateau secrets on your own, whereas in Da Vinci you had everything explained to you like a toddler. Plus, I've never cared much for Dan Brown's writing skills. He's just not that good in my opinion. It's the 'scandalous' nature of the book that made it into a best-seller, even though there were people (among them those who had finished GK3) who knew about the alleged 'secret' long ago.

Back on the subject of the series... I'd love to see a fourth one. Back when GK3 was first released the buzz was that it would deal with ghosts. And I certainly hoped it would deal with Grace's departure to India and her reunion with Gabriel, as well.

Alas, I don't think it will ever come to be. I'll still be happy with a novel, though.

Amen Brother!

Jensen did a WAY better job than Dan Brown at unraveling this particular story. Plus, I have always been more impressed by her research into history. i.e. Voodoo, and King Ludwig II, and Rennes Le Chateau.

Jane guides you through the history (thanks Gracie), and slowly unravels the story. Dan Brown beats you over the head with the story, and then tries to make it up by giving you quips of history.

Dan Brown's book has about as much intrigue as an Archie comic.

This game had mad atmosphere. Crazy to see who these voice actors are today after all these years since playing it.
