keanu reeves is ortiz the dog boy

Perhaps one of his best performaces, Keanu is not even credited in the film(theres not even a listing for ortiz in the ending credits). But on the new special edition dvd he is listed on the back.

I knew it!!!

I remember having a very indepth argument with my brother over who played Ortiz. I for one having grown up watching cartoons, have a very unique gift for picking up on someones voice. Once I hear a persons voice enough I can pick it out just by hearing it. As soon as I heard Ortiz's voice I KNEW it was Keanu under that make-up. I even recorded the end credits to see who was listed as playing Ortiz only to see the character wasn't even credited.

Thanks to the original poster for clearing things up :)

reply

no he isn't.....if you actually looked inside the book that came with it....it has a trivia thing....and it says he did not play it

reply

What about the part on the back of the DVD I'm looking at right now that says it is....?

reply

Dont worry, Keanu is Ortiz and there is proof. If you own the 2-disc DVD set, watch the part where it's the whole movie done in rehearsal and you will see Keanu reading as Ortiz

reply

If you read the REST of the trivia inside the book, and believe that it was some local that looks and sounds just like Keanu played Ortiz, then you must also believe everything else that's inside the book as well, like the part where it says the shot of The Troll falling from the plane was actually a real Japanese Businessman who just so happened to fall at the same location.

The booklet is a goof, a gag. It's just there for comedy. A couple posts above me pointed out that on the making of documentary, Keanu is there, with no makeup, playing Ortiz.

Copy and paste this link and scroll down the page. You will find a rare photo of Keanu Reeves in mid-trasformation as Ortiz.

If you read the name that they print as the supposed real name of the actor, it's obviously a joke.

Bender: I was God once.
God: Yes, I saw. You were doing well until everyone died.

it doesnt require any special powers of perception to see and hear that it is Reeves, though one may get confused because there IS a hint of acting talent in this performance...

reply

Anyone who is familiar with Keanu Reeves would know that was him. Even though I knew he was in the movie---from reading the back of the DVD cover---there was absolutely NO doubt that it was him. Curious, that he isn't listed in the credits. I was surprised, because it was a bigger part than I had thought it would be, but definitely some of his better acting.

And...come on. They HAD to reunite Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves:)

reply

If you look at Freaked's timing, Reeves was trying to break into a more serious market, where-as Alex Winter was doing alternative comedy shows like Idiot Box for MTV, possibly why Keanu wasn't credited.
It is blatantly him, there's one point where he gives a slight shrug that just made me think of Bill and Ted all over again.

Signature's are for fags.

"Signature's are for fags"

How true...

Keanu Reeves IS Ortiz the dog boy.
It was talked about when the movie came out. He didnt want it to be known, as his career was taking off since filming his part.
He did it as a favour for Alex Winters as they are good friends, but wanted to remain uncredited.

reply

Keanu is such a nob... I think it's just plain rude to say "Yeah, I'll be in it, but don't tell anybody..."

reply

Haha it totally is him.
He obviously had no sense of humor if he's denying being in this flick.
Keanu is officially fail until he embraces his role in this comedic gem and takes his rightful place in history with Mr. T and Bobcat.

In "Speed" Keanu befriends "Ortiz" on the bus.

I'm sure it's just a coincidence, but interesting connection.

It wasn't him that didn't want it known, he was all for it, his management was terrified of it because they were trying to make him a serious movie star. They talk about this on the commentary. It took massaging for them to allow him to do it at all (this was before Speed, after which he could pretty much do whatever he wanted).

Keanu got paid 1 million dollars for this tiny cameo...

reply

No, he didn't. Alex Winter set the record straight on this.

I would NOT call that a tiny cameo, he was in it for a bunch of scenes

I'm gonna refuse you an offer you can't make

reply

Keanu reportedly got 1million for the cameo. The studio was upset winters gave him so much for the part.

I remember hearing that he did an uncredited performance for this movie so when I rewatched it today I was looking and looking to see if I can spot him but I couldn't

And I was rather shocked to find out that he was the mexican dog man just now, it's nothing like him lol
