Garbage? No way!
I have seen two version of the book for TV too, but I am afraid, as a fan of the book I can enjoy them but without that:: they are BORING.
It doesn´t matter if they are a exact copy of the book.
Branagh´s movie is not that different from the book, by the way!
Branagh and script-writer did a fantastic job in this movie, it´s the book, but tied to a 2 hours movie any one who have never read the book can watch, understand and not feel bored. Just to name a few reasons.
Kenneth Branagh´s movie is great becoz he rescue the female side of the novel, something that previous movies definitely omited!!!!!!!!!
GREAT for that, becoz the book IS that way, and let´s see if another movie will portray the female side as this one... beocz they always OMIT that humm
Branagh´s movie is emotional, is very romantic, you can feel the love between Kenneth and Helena. Just like the book is, actually, the book is very emotional.
The creature is more emotional in this version, you can finally feel sympathy for him.
This movie is and will remain as the first truthful to the real spirit book no matter if Guillermo or another director film a new one.
So, garbage, for you.
You might enjoy TLC's "Great Books" episode on the Mary Shelley classic better.
