WTF?!? What a thing to say on a guy's wedding day! What was the reason for that?!?

Wow...lighten up, this dude. She was just asking a question. Instead of attacking her, why not just give her a simple answer, just like everyone else who responded after you?
shareHey sexist *beep* I don't believe in marriage (for myself anyway). I was just curious if an Anglican minister usually says things like that on a wedding day to the groom because whether or not people get cold feet, weddings are assumed to be joyous occasions - not depressing ones....dick!

The priest clearly says it as a joke, mainly because it is quite common for the groom or bride to get nervous, or cold feet, when the main event is drawing near.

The priest clearly says it as a jokeOf course it is a joke meant to lighten the mood and relieve the tension. But I think that it is funny because of its underlying truth. There will be moments of conflict in almost all marriages, and it is better to recognize that in advance rather than be surprised by it later. For easy markup in Firefox & Opera, see http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/42255 share
I'm a woman and thought it was funny. Very dry British wit.
share^^^^ this. How can someone watch this and not get British humour? Here's a little primer for next time:

it provided a joke to relieve the tension and foretold of the disaster that was to come. i thought it was hilarious. i disagree with you on that but then the poster below you is clearly dickishly trolling and you didn't deserve that kind of a reaction. ignore them
shareIt's British humor. Ironic if you will. I wouldn't get so offended by it.
shareits an odd thing to say to a groom, I always thought that but in the eyes of the audience the priest is right

Peep show
I just watched this on cable about an hour ago and I thought it was rather out of line too, so to speak :). Incidentally, after the movie ended, I looked up Charlotte Coleman [Scarlett], and to my surprise, I read that she died a few years back. What a shock...
shareCharlotte Coleman suffered badly from asthma. That is what killed her.
