Kim Basinger would have been a fabulous Carrie

I feel Basinger in an underrated actress and her career in the early 90s took something of a dip (before a brief resurgence of acclaim in LA Confidential). I think Four Weddings would have been a perfect vehicle for her. And hey, she's a southern girl, too! I liked Andie in the role but Kim would have knocked me out with her blonde bombshell Hollywood glamor and natural charm.

The thing is that Carrie is not that. She is not what she seems when we first catch a glimpse of her. She is nothing like Fiona's description of her.She is not the supremely self-confident person that she appears at first. There is something very homey about her, and she looks completely natural with the baby at the end.She wants Charles all along, and she is a suitable mate for him. A "blonde bombshell Hollywood glamour" Carrie would not be.This is not a conventional romantic comedy. The traditional male and female roles have been reversed. And it is a very realistic pairing which is not that all usual in romantic comedies.

I think Andie still managed to be glamourous and Kim could have successfully portrayed that contrasting earthiness you mention with great ease. I like Andie but as an actress I like Kim better and I think this movie needed a beautiful sun kissed blonde in all of that English paleness.
