What is the issue with the priest (Rowan Atkinson) saying Sinjun?

Great list.  I will work on "Menzies" since I was not aware of that, and it comes up more often than some of the others.

Because it's actually spelt St John but pronounced sinjun. I always thought this was pretentious nonsense but recently I stumbled on several YouTube videos explaining how vowel changes over time and standards imposed by newfangled printing presses changed the pronunciation of English. So insisting on St John as sinjun is a sort of verbal fossil I guess.
