What if Lt. Dan had lost his arms instead of his legs?

I wonder about that, a crippled war veteran can make it a long time without any legs using a wheelchair and his brain and life skills to become successful enough to survive in the world after ending their Military service, but i once saw an Army Veteran without any arms and i could tell he lost his arms in an explosion possibly involving a roadside bomb, probably in Iraq or some place like that.

Makes you wonder what Lt. Dan would have done if he had not lost his legs in the war at all but instead lost his arms? Being forced to have claws for hands but still being able to walk, the Army veteran i saw had a wife or girlfriend with him but i dont think he could survive alone, Lt. Dan made it just fine by himself without his legs.

I think i would rather die than lose my arms, at least Lt. Dan was smart enough to thrive without his legs but his arms? He would go insane very quickly.

Harold Russell, who played Homer Parrish in The Best Years of Our Lives (1946), lost both his arms below the elbows, but managed very well in spite of his injury. He had to depend on other people to a certain extent, though.
