"Life IS like a box of chocolates"

Forrest Gump says at the very beginning scene in the park chair with the nurse" ... life IS like a box of chocolates".

For some reason, it says now: "... life WAS like a box of chocolates". The sentence doesn't make sense because he is talking in the present with the nurse and how life is and stuff so it doesn't make sense to put the linking verb is in the past tense and if he going to say was, Forrest had to said MY LIFE WAS LIKE A BOX OF CHOCOLATES ...". I know Forrest is retarded but throught the movie he speak correctly.

If you want to know what I'm talking about, google Mandela Effect and Forrest Gump.

Reality has changed and timelines too.

No danny, at some point , as you say, he says 'Life was like a box of chocolates'. He means in general , you know like before Vietnam. He also means specific to his outlook or particular circumstances (eg loving mother) at the time. Any of those ways, he doesn't have to say 'my' even to be gramatically correct. It's a conversation, not a mathematical formula.

I mean I saw the movie many many times and he always said "Life IS like a box of chocolates". For some strange (really strange) reason now is like that with WAS.

Like I said it has to do to something called Mandela Effect and Large Hardron Collider in CERN at Switzerland. They have changed reality with some time travel phenomena meaning the messed up the fabric of reality and spacetime.

Yes, it's the Mandela Effect. That is when reality shifts and you're transported to a similar, but-not-exactly-the-same parallel reality, most likely because CERN's particle collider is actually a time machine. Look it up. It's a real thing.

He, at one point, said "is" ... and now says "was."

Deal with it, skeptics.

i was wondering if someone would bring that up on here

sadly, it may just be a case of one of those "most mis-quoted movie lines"----? ala----"We're not in Kansas anymore" became the coloquial tongue-in-cheek when the movie actually says "i get the feeling we're not in kansas anymore" or closer to.....having re-watched these movies as an older adult, i'm catching things i wouldn't have caught as a kid

Yes, you heard it correctly and now it is CHANGED.
Too many people including myself have repeated that line in conversation.
Life IS a box of chocolates....
The Past Tense Version (Life WAS....) does not make sense to people like us that heard it is the Present Tense (Life IS...)

Same for the film 'Field of Dreams'.
"Build it and THEY will come..."
THEY meaning the whole baseball team but mostly THEY as in the actual people at the end of the film showing up at the field.

Not to mention that "A Box OF Chocolates" have Maps Inside the Cover, LOL!

Is... is.. IS!! it was always "Life IS like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get." That I remember. Why would it be "was" if "you never know what you're gonna get"? Was makes no sense at all.

reply

Yes, the line always went IS like a box of... Mandela Effect, or at least that's what we're calling it. People who think it was always WAS are new viewers to the film. Several films have changes happening. Check Moonraker, Risky Business, Firld of Dreams, Wizard of Oz.
