Almost half of the locations in this movie were filmed in Winnipeg. I know this b/c I am from there and I've been to the numerous small airports Winnipeg has.

Yeah, most of the movie was filmed in Manitoba which I thought was great (I'm from Winnipeg). I thought the acting and the filmmaking was superbly done. It's one of my favorite Russell Crowe films!

Totally. I get goosbumps thinking how Russell was here and at the time an unknown. Perhaps we passed eachother and I wouldn't have even noticed him!

Sorry to disappoint Winnipeggers, but it was filmed in and around Brandon. The airport there still has many of the original war time buildings still standing. The dance hall and town shots were also in Brandon. Yes, it still looks like its 1941 in downtown Brandon. Been there, know some of the pilots and aircraft owners who flew for the film.

Actually it was filmed in Wpg also...

my cousin is tyler woods, who played charlie.
and the movie was filmed mainly in brandon. and the towns around it.. and there were locations that were in winnipeg.

of course, i was only 3 years old when this movie was being filmed. but i was asking my grandma and she told me. =)
