She somehow decides that the baby must be Elliot's (not sure how she did that). Kathy tells Elliot about the pregnancy, and Elliot goes to Emily, trying to work things out with her without letting her know that he knows. Emily figures out that Kathy blabbed. They have a big fight during a lamaze orientation session. During the fight, Emily lies that Tom is the father (to hurt Kathy's feelings).

Having not learned to keep her big snout out of things, Kathy flies to Denver to tell Tom that he's going to be a father. (Kathy imagines it as being very dramatic), and she craves drama. The suspicious husband, Peter, somehow hacks into an airline's records to discover his wife is not flying to Chicago to visit her parents, like she said. She's going to Denver, of course. So Peter as well as Elliot (don't know why Elliot's in Denver) go to Denver. Emily soon follows (don't know why she's there).

The four of them meet up at Tom's cabin, and Kathy & Peter have a serious talk about the state of their marriage, how she lives in a dream world and needs to make herself happy with what she has, etc. Elliot and Emily decide to work on their romance. At the end, Emily and Kathy are friends again, planning Emily's wedding to Elliot. Kathy and Peter have mended things and seem happy in their marriage.

REYyoung, lmao! You're right...a few of those plot points are incredibe, like Brad Pitt going to Denver to the same hotel as Kathy and Peter being able to hack into the airlines!!

Still enjoyed the movie a lot.

This was filmed in 1990. I worked in the travel industry back then and accessing another person's itinerary was easy.

Wasn't Elliot going to Denver for his show?

Kathy and Peter mend things and seem happy in their marriage? Okay I realize that this is supposed to be a romantic comedy but give me a break! The husband was foolish for taking her back so quickly. Why did he think she was wearing the lingerie she was in? For him? He should have just walked away and left her sorry ass there! Am I the only one who thinks a wife planning and dressing for an affair is just as bad as having one? After all, planning and dressing for it revealed that she was prepared to cheat and at the very least had an unfaithful heart.

She even lied to her husband when he showed up telling him that nothing happened although she let her ex boyfriend seduce and kiss her. She then tries to defend herself, seeking sympathy from him, when telling him that she missed that special feeling she had when she was 16; noting that although she loves her husband she was miserable. She never admitted that she was wrong for what she did only weakly saying she was sorry.
