Multiple viewings
Just watched this for the second time. I feel like watching it again right away. The puppetry and stop-motion animation in this film is amazing. If you didn't like it the first time, maybe try giving it another chance.
shareWhy would anyone not love it on their first viewing? The movie is amazing. Every aspect of the movie is beautiful, from the stop-motion animation to the dusty sets full of mystery and dread. Watching it shortly after Alice, this movie cemented my admiration for Jan Svankmajer.
This world is a comedy to those that think, a tragedy to those that feel.
I found it a bit too dark and morbid on first viewing, but did really take a liking to it the second time i watched it. This is defiinitely one of my favorite Faustian themed movies. By far the darkest, too (next to maybe Steppenwolf).
